Business Process Management for Contracting and Management

To get the desired outcome of a contracting or management process, more than planning and execution is needed. It also requires careful analysis and management the interdependent business process involved in the conception, construction, procurement closing, commissioning, and closure of the built environment. Management of business processes is essential to the success and development of any project or business.

BPM is a comprehensive systematic method for discovering ways of modeling, enhancing the automation and continuous monitoring of business processes. The aim is to align internal business activities with strategic goals, leading to increased efficiency and profitability.

To fulfill its purpose, the BPM lifecycle has six phases: analyze, design, implement, monitor, optimize and revise. The first step of the cycle is to analyze the current process to find areas of improvement. The second stage is the creation of the new business procedure that is able to meet the requirements of the company, using the possibility of standardization and automation. The implementation phase is targeted to implement the new process model. Ongoing monitoring and optimization will ensure its continuous efficiency.

Construction firms are losing tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars annually on wasting work processes and manual tasks, both in the office and on the job site. Automating these processes improves visibility, increases operational reactivity, reduces risk, and improves decision-making. It also helps reduce costs, increase morale of employees and facilitate better resource utilization. To accomplish this teams must be able to fully understand every aspect of their operations and the underlying procedures.
